NJSO patrons had this to say about Jacques Lacombe's performance of Carmina Burana with the NJSO in November 2008:

An absolutely wonderful performance. He led the orchestra without sheet music, and he knew every piece without missing a beat.
Being able to conduct the entire performance without a score was impressive. He was clearly in command and we thought brought out the best in the orchestra and chorus.
Enjoyed his precision and presence; he conducted with power, reserve and a sense of humor. Particularly liked his touch with the Janacek—big sound but very deft, very Czech.
His passion for the piece and attention to detail translated into an absolutely fabulous performance.
Jacques Lacombe conducts Carmina Burana with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, Montclair State University Chorale and Chamber Choir of the Moscow Conservatory.

Lacombe was simply, absolutely, unquestionably superb. I have been to many Carmina Burana concerts and this one stood head and shoulders above all the rest. His control over the orchestra and chorus was precise; he brought out every nuance of the music, moving from soft to loud and back again exquisitely. He brought the music to a stop exactly as it should be stopped and started it up again with perfect spacing. This was one incredible experience—electrifying, had me on the edge of my seat the entire evening. I wanted to come again on Sunday to hear it again!
I thought Lacombe was an excellent conductor—he was energetic, very involved. I thought he brought a terrific energy to the performance and I'd love to see him again.
I have got to say I was moved by the concert. Jacques is a great conductor, but the connection between him and the orchestra was magnificent—plus the choir was very powerful. Loved It.
This conductor was one of—if not the—best conductor I have seen so far. His knowledge of the material, his fluidity on the podium and his ability to enhance the performance through collaborating with the performers is unsurpassed.
We thought his exuberant conducting was a pleasure to watch! Loved him! Please bring him back for more!
