New Jersey Performing Arts Center Driving Directions

Via NJ Turnpike: Take the New Jersey Turnpike to Exit 15W for Rt. 280 W. Follow Rt. 280 to Exit 15A (Rt. 21/Newark). Take McCarter Hwy (Rt. 21) south one half mile and make a right onto Center St. Follow signs for NJPAC parking.

Via Garden State Parkway (North or South): Take GSP to Exit 145. Exit onto Rt. 280 E to Exit 15. Follow above directions.

Via Rt. 80 and Rt. 280 (from Northwest): Take Rt. 80 E to Rt. 280 E. Follow above directions.

Via Rt. 78: From Rt. 78 E, take Exit 57 and follow signs for Rt. 21 N. Continue on Rt. 21 (McCarter Hwy), and turn left onto Center St. Follow signs for NJPAC Parking.

 
 
PARKING

Parking is available in three secure surface lots and Military Park Garage, all located across the street from or adjacent to NJPAC. Costs are $15-16 per vehicle.

Branch Brook Park

If you’re in the mood for a day outside this park is the place to go. The Branch Brook Park was the first county park to be opened for public use. In 1999, a group of local residents joined together to form the Branch Brook Park Alliance in order to save the park from deterioration. Military Park

Right across the street from the New Jersey Historical Society is another little piece of history. Military Park was first used as a training place for soldiers in 1667 and then became the town commons in 1869. There are many interesting historic statues in the park, one of the most prominent being The Wars of America Monument, designed by Gutzon Borglum (creator of Mount Rushmore).

Montclair Art Museum

Less than half an hour away from Newark, the Montclair Art Museum (MAM) is worth checking out. MAM collects and preserves American and Native American Art. Through the exhibitions, MAM shows the relationship between these two artistic styles. The Museum works with several cultural partners not only to give unrecognized artists a chance but also to educate the public about these unique art forms. The New Jersey Historical Society is an interesting place; it is a historical society as well as a museum filled with a rich array of New Jersey history. This is the largest museum in New Jersey and is definitely worth checking out. Browse through 80 galleries from around the world representing the arts and natural sciences.
