MUSICIAN INSIGHT
Albin Ifsich, violin |

I am always amazed at how, no matter what external circumstances arise, everything always seems to come together on stage. The weather, the availability of performers … the snow shifted everything before this concert. One of the soloists was late [because of a train fire], but he still pulled off a wonderful performance. Something happens when we get on stage—it's like magic.
The soloists didn't really have much of a chance to rehearse with us because of the snow, and sometimes, I think that can lead to a better performance, because everyone is on their toes a bit more.
Music is so in the moment; you can't really predict what's going to happen. With all the weather obstacles, this performance could have been a disaster, but it all just clicked. I love being surprised like that. |
