PETER AND THE WOLF

  PRESS
  Pre-Concert Press:
January 31, 2010 Asbury Park Press; "NJSO cries wolf"

"The 'Peter and the Wolf' musical setting is one of the classics of narration and orchestra and is still required listening for those newly introduced to classical music ... Listeners naturally learn what each instrument sounds like—the mournful duck is the oboe, the chirping bird is the flute, the hunters' guns are timpani, and so on. But they are also clued as to how those instruments, and the abstract language of music, are used by composers to create dramatic stories."

GREATER NEWARK YOUTH ORCHESTRA MUSICIAN INSIGHT
"Wow—the Side-by-Side was such a cool concert! It was awesome walking onto the stage at NJPAC for the first time with Greater Newark Youth Orchestra; it's a really big hall and felt huge from the stage. Playing next to all the NJSO players was amazing."
-Luselys Lugardo

Luselys, a clarinet player who joined the Greater Newark Youth Orchestra (GNYO) in January, brought her older sister Leslie to the concert. Leslie, a clarinet player and GNYO alumna, volunteered to help out backstage before and during the pre-concert rehearsal with GNYO and the NJSO.
