  BEST OF BALLET

  PRESS
June 4, 2011 The Star-Ledger; “The NJSO steps into a dance”

“[Music Director Jacques Lacombe’s] affinity for the 'Best of Ballet,' in which he and the orchestra focused their full attention on ballet scores — minus ballerinas — was clear.”

  MUSICIAN INSIGHT
  Brennan Sweet, Associate Concertmaster

“It’s always a thrill for me to play [a solo] with the orchestra and Maestro Lacombe, and to play for such appreciative audiences. It was a fabulous concert, and everyone was very enthusiastic. It was fun to perform the first movement [of Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins] for this Best of … concert. I first learned the Bach when I was 7 years old—it was in Suzuki Book Four! So it was very interesting to actually be able to perform it with an orchestra. I always like the concerts in the Best of … series; it’s great to play a lot of different pieces on one program.

“I actually sprained my wrist on Saturday night and was unable to play [on Sunday’s concert in Englewood]. Luckily, [Concertmaster] Eric Wyrick was able to step in and play the solo—it was a real reminder that an injury can affect your ability to play your instrument.”
